Know your humidity level

Hygrometer

Hygrometers measure the relative humidity which is the ratio between the amount of water vapour in the air and the maximum possible amount that the air can absorb, depending on the current room temperature. A hygrometer will tell you whether the indoor climate is too humid, too dry or just right. Hygrometers from Stadler Form help you to always keep an eye on this value.

The Problem

Feeling unwell

If the indoor climate is out of balance, it can cause health problems and fatigue. Relative humidity is an indicator of the ratio and the balance between temperature and the proportion of water vapour (moisture) in the air. Unlike the room temperature, people often don’t know what the humidity value is or just ignore it.

Risks accociated with poor indoor climate

  • Formation of mould
  • Feeling of exhaustion
  • Dry mucous membranes
  • Itchy eyes
  • Respiratory problems
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue

The Cause

Moisture in the air

Experts recommend a relative humidity of 40-60%. If the value is higher, the air is too humid and if the value drops below 40%, the air is too dry. Both are signs of a poor indoor climate and pose hidden dangers to people, animals and furnishings.

The Solution

Measuring humidity

A hygrometer monitors the indoor climate permanently, enabling you to react in good time if the humidity remains too high or too low for a long period of time. Besides the temperature, the digital hygrometers from Stadler Form also display a smiley face, with the smile indicating that the humidity is within the recommended range.

Tips on positioning your hygrometer

Placing your hygrometer in an unsuitable position can have a negative impact on its measuring performance. It is important for the air to be able to circulate around the measurement device and it should not be placed in direct sunlight or near to any source of heat. On a chest of drawers or table is best rather than stuck on a shelf or right next to a window or door.
